Gathering Fieldstone

Terraces of 1st Century Nazareth were constructed of a light chalky limestone (nari) once commonly used for building.  Unfortunately for us, today’s construction techniques have no use for nari stone, making it unavailable by normal commercial means – and modern development have also caused natural concentrations of the stone to become increasingly scarce.

This only made our job more interesting - we scouted the wilder hillsides of Galilee for fieldstone, negotiated for its removal, collected and hauled it to the site ourselves.
