Building Relationships with the Local Community

As part of our ongoing efforts to reach out to our local community, in mid-December, Nazareth Village opened its doors to the public, to come and celebrate the coming of our Messiah Jesus into the world. People of all backgrounds joined us, in what was a series of entertainments all rolled up into one. We were delighted, that over the course of two evenings, approximately 1400 visitors came to our event! They came to explore the real meaning of Christmas in our unique setting.

This was not a conventional Christmas event: Jesus  was the focus! Guests could join 60 members of the “Sing Gloria” Romanian Choir—singing carols in our Synagogue, create ornaments for their trees, watch Kings Kids dance expressively, ride donkeys, watch a children’s video about life at the time of Jesus, feed sheep, eat delicious food, and experience first century characters tell the story of Jesus’ birth. By all accounts, our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the true Spirit of the Christmas was felt by everybody.

Following the success of our Christmas program, we are planning a special Easter event in April 2017.
